Exam Pattern –
Bihar Vidhan Parishad Sachivalaya prelims Exam consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions.
The exam will be held for 400 marks.
For each correct answer, 04 marks will be provided.
The questions will be asked in English and Hindi language.

Syllabus of preliminary examination :–
(a) General Studies: In this, as many questions as possible will be asked specifically regarding Bihar, India and its neighboring countries.
1. Contemporary topics: Important national / international current events, scientific progress, national / international awards, sports players.
ii. India and its neighboring countries – History of neighboring countries, History of India and Bihar / Culture / Geography / Economic scenario / Salient features of agriculture and natural resources, Constitution and political system of India, Origin and gradual development of constitutional and parliamentary system of India. , Panchayati Raj, Community Development, Five Year Plan, India’s freedom movement and Bihar’s contribution in the movement.
(b) General Science and Mathematics: In this generally as many questions as possible will be asked from the following subjects of matriculation level.
i. General Science – Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
ii. Mathematics– Questions related to number system, computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, numbers Interrelationships between, basic arithmetic operations, percentages, ratio and proportion, average, interest and profit and loss.
(c) Mental Ability and Logical Reasoning – In this, both verbal and non-verbal questions will be asked. In this component, as many questions as possible related to the following will be asked- Analogy, Similarities and Differences, Space Visualization, Problem Solving, Analysis, Visual Memory, Differentiation, Observation, Relationship Concept, Arithmetical Reasoning, Arithmetical Number Series and Coding And decoding.

(i) First Paper-
(a) Knowledge of Hindi language: Essay, letter writing, grammar, syntax, summarization.
Duration-02 (two) hours.
Explanation – The qualifying marks in Hindi subject in the first paper of the main examination is 30% which will be mandatory, but it will not be counted for the purpose of merit list. Those candidates who do not score 30% marks in this paper, their second paper of the main examination will not be evaluated and they will not be considered qualified in the main examination.
(ii) Second Paper –

(a) General Studies (80 marks) – History of the World/India/Bihar, Geography, Economy, Culture, Political System, Agriculture, Panchayati Raj System, Five Year Plan, Freedom Movement of India, Important Contemporary Events, Constitution of India and Its main features, Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles of State Policy, Fundamental Duties, Constitutional position and powers of the President and the Governor, Legislative scene of the State, Officers of the State Legislature, Disqualifications, powers and privileges of the members of the Bihar Legislature, Legislative process and legislative functions, procedure in relation to financial matters, jurisdiction, powers of the Supreme Court and High Courts, appointment of judges and Transfer, separation of powers, distribution of legislative and administrative powers between the Union and the States, elections, emergency provisions, amendment of the Constitution, other related issues and the Tenth Schedule.
(b) Numerical Ability (20 marks) Questions related to number system, computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, interrelationships between numbers, basic arithmetic operations, percentage, ratio and proportion, average, interest, profit and loss, time and distance.

प्रारंभिक परीक्षा का पाठ्यक्रम: –
(अ) सामान्य अध्ययन: इसमें, बिहार, भारत, और इसके पड़ोसी देशों के संबंध में विशेषकर प्रश्न पूछे जाएंगे।
ii. भारत और इसके पड़ोसी देश – पड़ोसी देशों का इतिहास, भारत और बिहार का इतिहास/सांस्कृतिक/भूगोल/आर्थिक स्थिति/कृषि और प्राकृतिक संसाधनों की मुख्य विशेषताएँ, भारत का संविधान और राजनीतिक व्यवस्था, भारत के संविधान और संसदीय प्रणाली का मूल विकास।, पंचायती राज, सामुदायिक विकास, पंचवर्षीय योजना, भारत के स्वतंत्रता संग्राम और बिहार का योगदान।
(ब) सामान्य विज्ञान और गणित: इसमें सामान्यत: मैट्रिक स्तर के निम्नलिखित विषयों से जितने संभावना हो सकती हैं, उनमें से पूछे जाएंगे।
i. सामान्य विज्ञान – भौतिकी, रसायन विज्ञान, जीव विज्ञान।
ii. गणित – संख्या प्रणाली, पूर्ण संख्याओं, दशमलव और भिन्न की गणना, संख्याओं के बीच संबंध, मौलिक अंक गणना, प्रतिशत, अनुपात और अनुपात, साधारित, ब्याज, लाभ और हानि।
(सी) मानसिक क्षमता और तार्किक तर्क: इसमें, वर्बल और नॉन-वर्बल प्रश्न दोनों होंगे। इस घटक में, निम्नलिखित के संबंध में जितने संभावना हो सकते हैं, उनसे संबंधित प्रश्न पूछे जाएंगे – अनुकरण, समानता और विभिन्नता, अंतरिक्ष दृश्यीकरण, समस्या समाधान, विश्लेषण, दृष्टि स्मृति, विभाजन, अवलोकन, संबंध अवधारणा, अंकगणित तर्क, अंकगणित संख्या श्रृंगार और डिकोडिंग।

स्पष्टीकरण – मुख्य परीक्षा के पहले पेपर में हिंदी विषय में अर्जित अंक 30% होंगे जो अनिवार्य होगा, लेकिन यह मेरिट सूची के लिए गिना नहीं जाएगा। उन उम्मीदवारों के लिए जो इस पेपर में 30% अंक प्राप्त नहीं करते हैं, उनका मुख्य परीक्षा का दूसरा पेपर मूल्यांकित नहीं किया जाएगा और उन्हें मुख्य परीक्षा में योग्य माना नहीं जाएगा।
(ii) दूसरा पेपर –
